Good Governance Index: Another Govt move to praise itself
Sectors covered under GGI fail in public service delivery
1/11/2022 11:28:38 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 11: Criticising the Government for its attempt to portray its good image in the garb of Good Governance Index (GGI), the DDC Member from Sutechgarh Taranjeet Singh Tony said that self praise is not recommended as Government has miserably failed in providing public service delivery in all the sectors which have been taken to assess the performance.
Pointing out at Agriculture sector, Tony said that the subsidies which were given to farmers to purchase tractor has been reduced. The farmers who are struggling to keep agriculture sector alive in Jammu have been facing lot of difficulties.
“Government will play with the figures to show rosy picture of its good governance. The actual picture can be seen on ground rather than papers. The promise made with the youth of Jammu to provide employment proved farce,” Tony alleged further adding that this exercise is being done keeping in elections.
“Major projects of Jammu still handing in balance, be it Jumbo Zoo, Artificial Lake etc. Three tiers grass root governance has been made captive by the government as PRIs are still facing numerous problems to serve the rural areas,” he alleged.
Meanwhile, NPP State Secretary Gagan Partap Singh, while raising the question on the existence of governance said that where is governance exactly in this government.
Apnay Mou Mian Mithu!
The grievance cell of government is the best example of failure of its so called good governance as timely no reply as well as disposal is given to the complainant.
Criticising its failure on the sectors of governance, Gagan Partap said that in education sector the 25% reservation in private school for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) is still a distant dream in JK UT. Although there is law in this regard but the same is not applicable in Jammu. “Health sector has been facing acute shortage of doctors, paramedical staff in entire region. NHM employees are being treated badly, who have been demanding justice by staging protest. Government has made a cruel joke with poor in the name of Ayushman card as majority of the people especially from far flung areas are denied benefit,” he alleged.
Common masses have no access to the advisors which have created huge gap to project their local issues. When corruption is also all time high then how government can claim that it has performed well in good governance. This Good Governance Index is going to be an attempt to make the people fool, he said.
Several rural areas are still without road connectivity, potable water facility. There huge dearth of the teachers in rural areas. No internet connectivity in remote villages when online classes are being conducted due to COVID, he added.
