8 days on, Power Deptt forgets to repair transformer, locals stage protest | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Jan 11: Residents of Dhara Dhuilyan here staged a protest on Tuesday against the failure of the Power Department to repair a transformer for the past many days. “We were forced to hit the streets. Our transformer developed snags eight days ago. For the first two days, Power Department employees didn’t lift the transfer. For the past six days we are being told that the transformer will be installed but nothing has been till date,” protesters said. “When we went to check the position of the transformer at the workshop of the Power Department we were shocked to see that it has not even been opened yet.” They said, “Callous attitude of the officials compelled us to block the road and stage a protest.” Later tehsildar and chowki officer rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters. They assured them that their transformer will be re-installed by Wednesday. It’s in place to mention here that the Power Department has been claiming that it has kept the spare transformers ready and any machine develops a snag it’s replaced within a few hours but the ground situation contradicts their claims. |
