GGM Science College starts ‘Pathshala for All’ drive in slum area | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 6: NSS unit of Govt Gandhi Memorial Science College started an awareness drive ‘Pathshala for All’ under the patronage of Principal Dr. Ravender Tickoo and guidance of NSS PO, Dr. Deepali Mahajan as a part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav. NSS unit in collaboration with Disha Volunteer Organization started this drive today in slum area of Janipur. Dr. Anil Sharma, founder of Disha Volunteer Organization, emphasized that education is the key to empowerment. At a young age, children learn that by having an education they can obtain the keys to a more fulfilling life. Educational achievement and society are correlated and play a crucial role in the child’s ability to be successful. During Covid-19 pandemic there are many children who have lost the access to education. The coronavirus pandemic forced people into their homes and forced schools and colleges to move to virtual classes has edged education dreams with conditions aplenty - a computer or at least a smartphone, proper internet connectivity and uninterrupted power supply. Education needs to emerge stronger from this global crisis than ever before. To promote education NSS Volunteers Anchal Singh, Kartik, Sia, Rimjhim, Jatin, Prarena, Avinash and Sargam mobilized children in slums, interacted with the people to promote education for all. Under fundamental rights at the age of 6 to 14 year students can take part in this Pathshala. Education is going to uplift all the people, and especially they would help the poor class bridge the gap between rich and poor, give poor people a sense of being, which is a very pertinent factor behind one’s performance and personality. |
