JTC, SKF protest enters 492nd day

JAMMU, Feb 6: The protest launched by Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) in support of various demands of displaced Pandits including enhancement of cash assistance entered 492nd day today.
Addressing the protesters, president JTC and SKF Shadi Lal Pandita said that the Delimitation Commission has not kept a political reservation for Kashmiri Pandits which is utter injustice and a betrayal to them which is condemnable.
Pandita said that since the BJP government come to power, Kashmiri Pandits are being ignored in every possible way.
He said the BJP government is only oppressing Kashmiri Pandits and depriving them of their democratic rights and right to life.
He said we have been protesting for 492 days but the BJP government is not resolving our demands. Pandita said the government should increase the monthly cash relief of the relief holders from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 .They said that unemployed educated youth of the community are fed up with out employment so it is the responsibility of the government to provide a package of 20,000 jobs for KP unemployed educated youth. They said 32 years compensation for the losses to farmers, orchardists and balanced ex-gratia of gutted, damaged houses to be given to KPs. The members said that Kashmiri Pandits are fed up with 32 years of exile and they want to return to their motherland so for their rehabilitation three satellites townships should be constructed near Baramulla, Srinagar and Anantnag. Besides Kashmiri Pandits should be given political and minority status. Those who were participated in the protest included Shuban Raina, Raj Kumar Bhat, Vinod Bhat, Rakesh Tickoo, Mohan Krishan Tickoo, Ram Krishan, Vijay Bakshi, Satish Pandita , GM Khan, Ab Rahman Dar and others.
