ANC rejects delimitation draft report | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Feb 6: Awami National Conference president Begum Khalida Shah has rejected the delimitation commission's second draft proposal in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. “J&K out rightly rejects the delimitation commission’s second draft proposal & there are no takers for it anywhere and the ANC rejects this drama carried out in the name of Delimitation”, she said. She said that the Delimitation Commission exercise was against the constitution and any change in the existing setup amounts to challenging the Indian constitution. The Delimitation exercise cannot be undertaken in the absence of a legislature and in the absence of an elected government, Khalida Shah said and added the changes put forth by the Delimitation Panel are totally unconstitutional and unacceptable to Jammu and Kashmir. Khalida Shah stated it is senseless to demarcate boundaries of old constituencies by creating newer ones with complete "discrimination" under the new seat sharing proposal of the delimitation panel. “This exercise is illogical, unjustified and rejected by people and across party lines. The ANC along with the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) will chalk out the strategy for defeating the agenda of the BJP and it’s mentor the RSS”, she said. The people of J&K, irrespective of region or religion will not allow the Delimitation exercise to succeed, she said. The ANC vice president Muzzafar Shah has said that the commission has not upheld its mandate of a constitutional body but has clearly demonstrated itself as a frontal organisation of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the RSS. He said the report has a sole agenda of ensuring backdoor entry of BJP and its “B” teams to the Legislative Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir, Shah added. |
