Ravinder urges LG to revoke notice of closing relief package to refugees | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 9: Former MLC and Chief Spokesperson Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress has requested the Lt. Governor of JK UT for immediate review and recall of recent notice of the government closing the relief package to refugees of 1947, 1965, 1971 from 10th February onwards. The letter states that "On behalf of the Congress party, it is to bring to your kind notice that the decision of the Govt closing the ongoing relief package to refugees of 1947, 1965, 1971 is injustice to them and it is clear betrayal and backtracking of the promises with them by the Modi government and BJP. The package was not only endorsed by the all party joint parliamentary committee but also enhanced the relief amount to Rs 30 lakh per family, Only a meager amount of Rs 5.5 lakhs was sanctioned but that too has not been disbursed to all eligible families because of various hardships in the procedure and documentations for them. There are several hundreds of claimants pending and a large number of others still deprived of the ongoing relief package, because of certain requirements of old records of migration etc. It is requested the ongoing disbursement process of Rs 5.5 lakh be continued till all the eligible families are covered. LG was also requested that the matter of full package of Rs 30 lakh with other components may kindly be taken up with the Central Govt. without further delay. |
