No 'Naya Kashmir' post Art 370: Nagma | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 9: Stating that it is painful the way statehood was "snatched" from Jammu and Kashmir, actress-turned-politician Nagma on Wednesday said that 'Naya Kashmir' is not visible on the ground after the Centre revoked Article 370 of the Constitution in August 2019. Nagma, who is also the General Secretary of the All India Mahila Congress, said at the end of a three-day visit: "It is very unfortunate and painful that the Modi government snatched statehood from Jammu and Kashmir and created a Union Territory." "We were waiting that some development will take place after Article 370's revocation but the 'Naya Kashmir' is only a myth and not visible on the ground." She said people were unhappy with the Delimitation Commission's proposal. "We met people in Suchetgarh and they are very annoyed due because of the removal of Suchetgarh assembly constituency in the proposed draft," said Nagma. "All sections of the society are fed up with BJP rule," he said. The agenda of development of the present administration is a "hollow slogan", said Nagma. "Asha and Anganwadi workers are the worst hit. Widows below 40 are deprived of the pension scheme and nothing concrete is being done to empower women." In the meantime, unemployment graph has increased to 22 per cent in Jammu and Kashmir, she said. "The BJP is dividing people on religious lines." She slammed the government's "double standards" and alleged that the nation was being divided on "religious lines". On the Karnataka Hijab row, she said: "Those who don't have a development agenda are indulging in such diversionary tactics." |
