DB directs ASGI to get instructions regarding Smart City Project, Metrolite Project for Jammu | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 11: A division bench of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Sindhu Sharma granted three weeks time to ASGI to seek instructions from the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India regarding the Smart City Project and the Metrolite Project for the City of Jammu. The directions were issued in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Citizens Forum through its President R K Chadha regarding fly-over project from Shakuntla-Janipur fly over proposed in 2008 has been abandoned for some extraneous reasons and regarding-congesting/widening of the Amphalla - Janipur road and regard to de-congesting/widening of the Janipur - High Court Road. Earlier the DB directed ASGI to seek instructions if Metrolite Project for Jammu city has been approved and the time frame within which the Government proposes to complete the same and directed to file affidavit before December 23, 2021. This direction has been passed when respondents in this PIL have come out with a stand that there is no such proposal for the construction of the flyover and that now the city of Jammu is under Smart City Project and there is a Metrolite Project for Jammu city so as to ease out the flow of traffic. The said projects have to be funded by the central government. |
