| Cop killed, 4 others injured in militant attack in Bandipora | | | S Tahir-ul Haq

BANDIPORA, Feb 11: A policeman was killed and four other security personnel were injured today in a grenade blast at Nishat Park area of this north Kashmir district.
Police statement said that militants hurled a grenade on a joint party of Police & BSF in Nishat park of Bandipora resulting in martyrdom of one police personnel and injuries to 04 other police personnel. Senior officers reached at the terror crime spot. The injured cops and a trooper were immediately shifted to the nearby hospital for advance treatment, among the injured police personnel Zubair Ahmad of Papchan Bandipora succumbed to his injuries and attained martyrdom, while the condition of other injured personnel is stable, said police statement. However a senior police official said that, the cops were deployed on a routine naka near Nishat Park, investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this terror crime.
“Soon after the militant attack, the entire area was cordoned off to nab the attackers, till the last reports came in”, the police official said.
Meanwhile pall of gloom descended in the native village of slain SPO after his body reached his home for last rites, said a local resident of Bandipora. |
