Man locked in room without food, water | Reasi Hospital, health institution or a prison? | | Early Times Report
Reasi, Feb 11: A patient has been ostensibly locked in a room at Reasi hospital for the past many days triggering resentment among the people. Eyewitnesses told a local news channel, “A man has been locked inside a room. He beats the door when he feels hungry. He keeps on screaming that I am hungry, give me food.” “Our patient has been admitted to the hospital for the past 3-days and a person next to our room has been locked. When I asked the staff why this person is not being attended upon, they told us not to open the door as it stinks,” they added. “We informed the staff, they said not to open the door. But for the past four days he was beating the door. Today I opened the door and gave him tea and biscuits as I couldn’t bear it,” said Farman Ali, whose daughter is admitted in the hospital. He said, “It’s unfortunate that a patient is not being given any food, what treatment they would give him.” Another witness said, “If he is mentally unsound he should be shifted to asylum. If he has no heir, he can be handed over to any NGO. Treating a mentally unsound inhumanely doesn’t mean that you can treat him as a prisoner that too without providing him without food and water.” |
