Early Times REPORT

SRINAGAR, Feb 15: Cheshma Shahi garden located in the foothills of Zabarwan mountain range is a perfect place for holidayers and it ought to be developed on modern lines. However, the people at helm are not taking measures that would suggest that they are serious in the development of Cheshma Shahi. A group of tourists while talking to Early Times said that heaps of garbage are present in the garden and the authorities are not serious in lifting the garbage. The tourists said that the presence of garbage gives a shabby look to the garden and its environs. “It is important that gardens and parks are developed to the fullest possible so that more and more people visit them and enjoy them to the best possible level. But in this case the people at helm seem to be least bothered even though Kashmir is projected as a world class tourist destination,” said the tourists. The tourists said that although they paid for entry to the Cheshma Shahi garden in the form of entry tickets they found that the arrangements were not up to the mark. They said that there is no harm in taking money from the tourists but at the same time the concerned department should develop the place accordingly.
The tourists along with the others who visit the garden said that there is a need to put in place the chair lift system so that the elderly people do not face problems in moving around. They said that in the present situation the elderly visitors face a lot of difficulties in reaching the important points in the garden. “If the chair lift system would have been in place at the garden the elderly visitors would have been able to move to each and every corner of the garden. These people are not able to climb the stairs and the same holds true for the people who have some problems in bones and joints,” said a group of visitors
