Terminated RUMSA teachers seek renewal of contract | ‘No one is listening to us, we are going door to door’ | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 8: Youth appointed as teachers under RUMSA scheme are staging protest in Jammu against the government’s decision to discontinue. Talking to reporters here the government had appointed 110 consolidated teachers at the consolidated salary of Rs 30,000 per month. Many postgraduates and PHD holders were appointed under the scheme and many of us have become overage. “We want the arrangement to continue on a yearly basis. We are not asking for regularization.” “The schools in far-flung areas have become defunct due to our arrangement being terminated. Education is a basic component of any society. Now the schools have reopened. We should be appointed again,” they said. “On one hand the government is claiming that it’s providing employment to the youth but on the other we are being rendered jobless. The funds for our salaries are provided by the Centre despite that our contract is not being renewed,” they added. “The unfortunate part is that no one is listening to us and we are moving from one door to another. Our passionate appeal to LG Sinha is to look into our case and allow us to continue our services,” they said. |
