Medical Officer absent, blast victims left in pain | | | Ashwani sharma Early times report
Udhampur, Mar 11: While the blast victims in Udhampur hospital were in dire need of medical care, the concerned medical officer was absent from the duty in an unauthorised manner. An order from the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Udhampur sought explanation from Dr. Shivani Kotwal the concerned Medical Officer stating that failing the same may lead to disciplinary action against her for dereliction of duties. The order quoted sources to claim that Dr. Kotwal was performing the duty of Internal Examiner for the exams of GNM when the blast victims were crying in pain for her medical care. The erring medico even not bothered to inform the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital or to her fellow doctors about her absence so that some alternate might be arranged and this negligence create a hotch-potch in the recent emergency and such an ignorance is of grave criminal nature which might have led to causalities inviting public wrath. The order further claimed that Dr. Kotwal is habitual of remaining absent from her duty. On the condition of not being named a patient said that the nurses on night duty leave the hospital at 6 am while they are supposed to remain on duty till their reliever arrives. He also said what if some emergency arises in absence of nurses appeal to medical superintendent of district hospital Udhampur action should be done against such nurses who are doing their duties as irresponsible behaviour”, he added. |
