As admin flaunts e-services, jobless JK youth have no resources to use internet! | Youth seek PM Modi’s intervention, end to rosy picture | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 12: While the administration of Jammu and Kashmir has yet again issued a self-appreciating handout through the Information department talking tall about launch of numerous portals and smartphone apps to “deliver good governance,” the jobless educated youth have said they have no resources to buy smart phones or internet connections. On March 11, the Information department handout said the “Good Governance is one of the most important factors in eradicating poverty and promoting development across the world through a more transparent, responsive and accountable dispensation in place” adding that several e-governance measures have been introduced. “With a vision to establish citizen friendly and corruption free governance, the JKGAD also launched ‘Satark Nagrik App’ through which any ordinary citizen can lodge complaints with the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) online... Keeping its commitment of institutionalising corruption free administration, the JKGAD launched an online portal for e-filing of property returns (PRS-Portal). The new portal facilitates access and monitoring of the property details of all the employees besides facilitating the employees in obtaining timely vigilance clearances,” the government handout said. But the jobless youth have sharply reacted to such handouts being carried by a section of the print media. “Government talks about apps and websites introduced for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. But to access such services one needs a computer or a smartphone with internet connectivity. How can a youth who has no earning get such resources?” the youth asked. The youth said instead of “wasting public money on apps, websites and musical events, the government should have prioritised on employment of youth.” “Can we make complaint on these apps and websites as to why the promise of fifty thousand government jobs was never fulfilled and why age limit for government job has been reduced and why PSC withdrew posts for which had paid big money as fee?” the aggrieved youth pleading anonymity. The youth said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should personally look into the issue of “rosy picture of J&K being given by Raj Bhawan when public alienation is at all times high due to ruthless corruption and babu giri.” But the official said “In another remarkable initiative of Good Governance, LG’s Mulaqaat Program was launched to facilitate public/complainants who have filed grievances on JKIGRAMS to directly communicate with Lieutenant Governor. It has been successful as almost 100% grievances raised through this platform have been redressed.” “Notably, the present administration of J&K is mainly focusing on ‘On-The-Spot’ grievance redressal, instantaneous delivery of goods and services to the masses and ‘On-The-Ground’ speedy execution of People-Centric projects, which is being observed through the exceptional development works and projects that are currently going on across the Union territory,” the handout said. |
