Vital stretch on Udhampur - Ramnager road damaged , authorities in slumber | | | ASHWANI SHARMA Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Mar 26: A long stretch of Udhampur-Ramnagar road which has been damaged at Kagote by a landslide for about a month has yet not been repaired by the concerned authorities. The stretch serves as a vital road link for Ramnager, Basantgarh and many other places. Advocate Harjeet , a local of the area said the damaged road portion may anytime trigger some tragic road mishap so its repair is all important without losing any time. Many other locals using the road flayed the attitude of negligence by the concerned Public Works Department (PWD) which is authorised to repair and construct roads. The locals have urged upon the district administration to get the road repair as many passenger buses, minibuses, private vehicles etc ply over it along with heavy vehicles and the stretch is still slide prone which may lead to any catastrophe. When contacted PWD Executive Engineer Udhampur, Mohd Zabir informed that work on the road has been allotted to the contractor and the same may get started within one or two days so that the people may heave a sigh of relief. It is pertinent to mention here that many roads and link roads is district Udhampur are still in dilapidated condition and the concerned authorities along with elected representatives of rural and urban bodies pay no heed towards this while the public continue to suffer owing to such shortcomings in welfare measures. |
