Mehbooba, Omar visit fire victims | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 5: Political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday visited the Nigeen Lake at Hazratbal where a devastating fire destroyed seven luxurious houseboats on Sunday night. A houseboat owner suffered burns when he moved the tourists away from the inferno. The luxurious houseboats and three wooden huts were reduced to ashes. Former Chief Ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti met the families affected by the fire tragedy. The houseboat owners told Abdullah that all the tourists were evacuated safely even though they were not able to shift some of the boats away from the path of the fire. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti demanded an immediate relief for those who had suffered losses. She praised a houseboat owner who received multiple burn injuries while rescuing the tourists staying in these houseboats. National Conference President and MP Farooq Abdullah has asked the Tourism Ministry to come to the rescue of the affected houseboat owners. |
