Poor have no right to life, says 12-year old boy | Divorced by husband woman runs from pillar to post for 5-marla land, babus in no mood to listen | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 10: A woman and her son from Rajouri District are running from pillar to post to seek 5 marla land to build a house for them. The woman while narrating her woeful tale said that she was divorced by her husband when her son was not even one month old and since then both of them are living under an open sky. Her son Mohammad Arshid said, “My mother has been performing all the odd jobs to feed me for the past 12 years. I also try to help her out. We have approached everyone with the application to seek 5 Marla land so that we can build two rooms. The Deputy Commissioner had marked our application to the tehsildar, but instead of helping us, the tehsildar humiliated us and threw us out from his office.” Arshad alleged that Patwari asked for a bribe. “We are poor and can’t even manage two square meals in a day, how can we pay the bribe. The unfortunate part is that no one is listening to us. It seems the poor have no right to life,” he added. |
