BJP leaders ask Centre to save J&K from ‘mafia’
4/10/2022 11:58:33 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 10: Amid the joining of a large number of political activists in the Aam Adami Party (AAP), the fears-stricken J&K unit of the BJP has appealed central leadership of the party to save the Union Territory from the ‘mafia’ to face coming assembly elections.
Fear-gripped J&K BJP leaders that the failure of the administration to solve the basic problems of the people would sabotage the party’s plan to form its own government in Jammu and Kashmir. “Earlier due to failure of the Congress to encash peoples’ anger BJP leadership was not worried about assembly elections but now the situation has been drastically changed”, a senior BJP leader told The Early Times.
Wishing anonymity the leader said that the emergence of AAP in the political scenario has added woes to the local BJP leaders.
“Instead of giving importance to local BJP leaders who have a connection with the common masses at the grass-root level, administration has virtually handed over the whole UT to the mafia”, the BJP leader regretted and pointed out that people are blaming BJP for prevailing anarchy and chaos in the administration.
Sources said that local BJP leadership has already pressed a panic button and asked central leadership to take some effective steps to save J&K from the “mafia” which has virtually controlled all economic sectors with the help of some babus in the administration.
“Instead of solving the basic problems of the people, administration has compounded woes of the masses by pursuing anti-poor policies”, sources said and added that the attitude of some babus in the administration has added worries to local BJP leaders.
Sources said that during the last couple of weeks, the political situation in J&K in general and Jammu province, in particular, is changing with AAP emerging as a potential political force replacing the defunct Congress.
After formally joining AAP on April 8, a large number of people today reached here and they were accorded rousing reception. The response of the people is a warning signal for BJP.
