Archery: Indian men clinch gold | | | agencies ANTALYA, Apr 23: The Indian compound men's team of Abhishek Verma, Rajat Chauhan and Aman Saini clinched a gold at the Archery World Cup stage 1 here on Saturday. India defeated the French team of Jean Philippe Boulch, Quentin Baraer and Adrien Gontier 232-231 in the final to claim the top spot on the podium. The compound men's team began its campaign in the second round as it received a first round bye. India ousted Italy 237-232 in the second round to enter the quarterfinals. In the last eight, it prevailed over Turkey 235-233 before defeating Britain 236-235 in the semifinal. The compound mixed team of Abhishek and Muskan Kirar, however, missed out on a medal after losing the bronze medal clash to Croatia 156-157. Verma and Muskan lost to their Slovenians Toja Ellison and Aljaz Brenk in the semifinals. |
