Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 23: Even as the Raj Bhawan has no money for thousands unemployed youth who have been “pushed to starvation”, the JK administration is set to spend a whopping over Rs one crore on the “refreshment” at the daylong Panchayat Conference scheduled for April 14.
The official documents accessed by the Early Times reveal that the government has decided to spend the “big money” on “Chai Paani” at the Panchayat conference to be held on April 24 here. The Government Order vide number: 96 RD & PR of 2022 dated 20 -04-2022 states that “Sanction is hereby accorded to the release/ transfer of funds to the tune of Rs 1,10,22,750/-( One Crore Ten Lakh Twenty Two Thousand Seven hundred Fifty only) in favour of Divisional Commissioner Jammu on account of refreshment charges of participants for Panchayat Day conference on 24-04-2022.” “The amount shall be debited to Account No: 0110040500000087 (Central Account of 14th FCA) maintained at J&K Bank, Branch Moving Secretariat, Jammu/ Srinagar and credited into the official account of Divisional Commissioner Jammu. By Order of the Government of Jammu A Kashmir,” reads the order issued by Commissioner Secretary to Government, Rural Development and Panchayati Raaj.
Officials at the Civil Secretariat told the Early Times on the condition of anonymity that the “public money was being spend lavishly to give a rosy picture of the state of the affairs before the honorable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir.”
“A coterie of officials especially those on deputation are behind this game plan to spend lavishly so as to five a feel of optics that people of Jammu and Kashmir are happy with the Raj Bhawan whereas the reality is that the corruption and misgovernance have been breaking records only to fuel public alienation,” said a group of senior officials. They said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is known for his honesty and integrity must “order a high level probe to look into the financial and other irregularities or sorts being done by a coterie calling the shots in Jammu and Kashmir administration.” “Presently because of such blacksheep in Jammu and Kashmir administration, it is essentially BJP which is losing ground and honorable Modi Ji should look into the reasons.” Despite repeated attempts the concerned who released over Rs one crore for refreshment couldn’t be contacted for comments.
