| Lone doctor, pharmacist manage healthcare affairs for whole night | | SDH Jagti faces staff shortage | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 23: Notwithstanding the tall claims that patient care in Jammu hospitals is satisfactory and freely available to all citizens yet glaring example of paramedical staff shortage in Sub Division Hospital Jagti has come to fore mocking all the claims of hospital management,sources said here today.
The height of the hospital management mockery can be gauged from the fact that a single doctor along with lone pharmacist runs the hospital affairs for whole night where patient rush remains usually high.
Earlier this hospital had to cater medical needs of inhabitants of Kashmiri Migrants of the Jagti colony only but later on the hospital was up-graded and has to cater now medical needs of people of several villages in and around Nagrota area in Jammu outskirts.
Sources said that the patient rush remains increasing during night hours but due to dearth of medicos and paramedical staff the doctor and his sole pharmacist have to face tremondous impact of workload physically as well as mentally."And if sometimes an accidental case reaches to this hospital then it is upto God only what will be his fate", said a patient while standing in a queue, waiting for his turn this evening in the hospital.
It is pertinent to mention here that there is sanctioned staff strength of SDH Jagti about 73,but only half of the staff is presently placed on the requisite posts in the hospital while several vital posts have been remained unfilled since a long time.According to hospital sources the management has been demanding the filling up the vacant posts but the Health Services Jammu has not been able to do anything concrete till date in this regard.
Though some Kashmiri migrant staff has been deployed in the hospital but most of them are at the verge to attain superannuation in near future, while as no fresh recruitment is being made to met out the patientcare needs for reasons best known to men at helms. |
