Jammu, May 6: Although opposition political parties have rejected the final draft report of the Delimitation Commission, activities started within hours after the submission of the report. AICC general secretary in-charge J&K Rajni Patil, who is already in the Union Territory, held discussions with the party leaders to devise a strategy for the coming assembly elections. “Apart from holding discussions on organizational elections of the party, Rajni Patil discussed possibilities about assembly elections in J&K”, sources said and added that Congress has already started preparations for the elections. Sources said that party leaders have intensified activities in their respective constituencies. As far as BJP is concerned, party leaders repeatedly asserted that they are always ready to fight elections. “After May 8, we will convene a meeting of senior leaders to start preparations for assembly elections”, a BJP leader said and added that the party has already asked its possible candidates to start preparations in their respective constituencies. Sources said that despite outrightly rejecting the final report of the Delimitation Commission, PDP has also started the groundwork for assembly elections. Party leadership has started the process to shortlist potential candidates in Kashmir Valley and in Muslim majority areas of Jammu province. The main opposition party of J&K, National Conference is already in the election mode. Exercise to shortlist candidates has already been initiated by the party. |
