Srinagar, May 19: Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have solved a theft case in Shopian and recovered stolen items including Laptops and smart mobile phones on Thursday. Police on the basis of complaint filed by local shopkeepers in Police Station Shopian in south Kashmir regarding theft of electronic items including mobile phones, laptops, electronic accessories, clothes, shoes and other items during the intervening night on 24/25 March 2022 from their shops. During investigation, police said on the basis of analysis of CCTV footage and technical leads, the thieves were identified as Tariq Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Arihal Pulwama, Bilu, Sadaqat, Razak, Zafar and Saqeeb alias Molvi all residents of district Rajouri in Jammu division. They said Tariq Ahmed Bhat was arrested and on his disclosure, stolen items including 2 laptops, 15 smartphones, clothes including 20 shirts, 18 Pants, eight Shoes and other items were recovered. Out of other five thieves, Saqadat has also been arrested by Rajouri Police and is still in their custody while others are absconding and efforts are on to nab them. Further recoveries are also expected. Police have requested the shopkeepers in Shopian Town to install CCTV Cameras in their establishments so that such kind of incidents can be curbed. Moreover, Police have intensified night Patrolling in the areas where frequent attempts of theft have been reported. |
