Commissioner JMC takes stock of sanitation facilities, inspects attendance of SKCs in different areas

JAMMU, May 19: The Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Rahul Yadav (IAS) took stock of sanitation facilities being provided by Jammu Municipal Corporation in different areas viz. Panjtirthi, Chowk Chabutra, Pacca Danga, Parade, Dogra Hall, Rehari Colony, Sarwal, New Plot, Janipur, Roop Nagar, Bantalab, Bohri Talab Tillo and Residency Road etc. and also inspected the attendance of Safaikaramcharies (SKCs) in these areas and issued on spot directions to the Health Officer, JMC for putting every possible effort for providing proper sanitation to the citizens of the Jammu City, as JMC is mandated to provide basic amenities to the citizens of the city and further directed that there should be no lapse in respect of attendance of the SKCs/sanitation staff and added that JMC launches sanitation drives from time to time to achieve the aim of Swacch Bharat Mission and Clean Jammu and Green Jammu.
The Commissioner, JMC also directed the Transport Wing for thorough cleaning/desilting of the Nallahs to avoid over flooding of nallahs during ensuing rainy season and also to avoid loss of life and property due to over flooding.
He further appealed to the people to cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation and use identified places for disposal of garbage. He also stressed to avoid use of polythene to the extent possible which is the major cause of blockage of drains and nallahs. He stressed for putting every possible effort in achieving goal of making city Jammu Clean & Green and aim of Swachh Bharat Mission and also appealed to the general public at large to comply with the guidelines/SOPs being issued by the Govt.
