JAMMU, May 31: GGM Science College under the patronage of worthy Principal Dr. Ravender Tickoo participated in World No Tobacoo Awareness Rally. The event was organized by Directorate Health Services. The Rally was flagged off by Director Health Services, Principal GGM Science College and Principal SPMR Commerce College. The rally started from GGM Science College en-route jewel chowk to Dogra Chowk and back to the college. The event was cordinated by NSS Program Officers of both colleges. The NSS volunteers raised slogans to make the general public and masses aware of harmful effects of the use of tobacco. The world marks World No Tobacco Day on 31st May every year, to raise awareness of the negative health, social, economic and environmental impacts of tobacco production and use. Consuming tobacco kills over 80 lakh people across the world every year. Besides the human cost, consuming tobacco also causes the environment to degrade. The theme for this year's No Tobacco Day is "Poisoning our planet". Quit before it kills you. NSS volunteers raised slogans Your lungs don't deserve tar, Stop it Stupid!, Reject today or regret it later, Kill your bad habits, not yourself! , Quit smoking before it quits you and Stop smoking before smoke stops you. |
