Early Times Report
Jammu, June 3: Like the Kashmiri migrant employees recruited under the Prime Minister's Special Recruitment Drive, Scheduled Caste employees of Jammu have also stepped up the campaign for adjustment in Jammu province only. First-time after the eruption of terrorism in J&K, SC employees have raised this demand because they were living comfortably in all areas of Kashmir Valley. Unlike PM package employees, these employees are living in rented accommodation but still, they never raised the issue of insecurity. After the gruesome killing of Rajni Bala, a teacher in a coward attack, the faith of these helpless employees has been shattered. For the last three days, these employees have been agitating for adjustment in Jammu because all of them belong to the Jammu region only. On Friday, these employees, mostly teachers, staged a sit-in here to press for their transfer from Kashmir to their home districts in the Jammu region following a string of targeted killings by terrorists in Kashmir. These employees have returned to Jammu after their colleague, Rajni Bala, was shot dead by terrorists at a school in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday. Under the banner of ‘All Jammu-based reserved categories employees association’, the protesters took out a march from the Press Club to Ambedkar Chowk on Thursday and followed it by another sit-in at Panama Chowk in the heart of the city on Friday. These employees have made it clear that they will not resume their duties due to security threats. They announced that they will prefer to die in Jammu instead of becoming the victim of terrorists in Kashmir. |
