37 pilgrims injured in Qazigund accident | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 14: Five women were among the 37 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, who got injured in a road accident at Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on Thursday, officials said here. They said a bus carrying Amarnath devotees from Jammu met with an accident near Badragund area of Qazigund in south Kashmir's Kulgam district, injuring at least 37 yatris. The accident was caught on camera. In the video footage, the speeding bus can be seen colliding into a stationary dump truck, while taking a turn at the crossing, added the sources. They said all the injured worshippers, including the five women who sustained minor injuries, were discharged from Emergency Hospital Qazigund after first aid, while three grievously injured devotees were shifted to GMC Anantnag for treatment, they said. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said three Amarnath yatris, who had received minor injuries, were shifted to Government Medical College Anantnag for treatment. He also directed the district administration and the Principal GMC to take care of those with minor injuries and arrange for their travel. "Three Shri Amarnath Ji Yatris, who had received minor injuries in a road accident near Badragund, Kulgam, were shifted to GMC Anantnag. Instructed District Administration & Principal GMC to take good care of others with minor injuries & ensure necessary arrangements for their travel," LG Sinha tweeted. |
