Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 6: After extending support to the Bharat Jodi Yatra, National Conference President and Member Parliament, Dr Farooq Abdullah joined Congress rebel, Ghulam Nabi Azad at his book release where Rahul Gandhi was the main target.
Veteran politician Azad said that he left the party because of Rahul Gandhi, and took potshots at the Gandhi scion, including for his tearing up an ordinance when UPA was in office.
Referring to Rahul’s disqualification from Lok Sabha, Azad said Rahul's rejection of the ordinance had boomeranged on him.
He spoke at the launch function of his autobiography 'Azaad', on April 5, which was attended by political leaders across party lines, including former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah, while the book was released by former Yuvraj, Dr Karan Singh.
Interestingly at the book release, the main target of Azad remained Congress in general and Rahul Gandhi in particular.
Observers said it was interesting to see the president of the party which had joined the Bharat Jodi Yatra as an ally of the Congress attending the function hosted by a politician who “spews venom against the grand old party.”
“In politics you have no permanent friends but permanent interests and at the moment it must have been in the interest of the National Conference to join the event that was against Congress party otherwise why would NC president behave so quite openly,” said a political analyst.
Interestingly no face from the Peoples Democratic Party was seen attending the book release held in the national capital.
Others who attended the event include: Praful Patel (Ex Minister), Dr D Raja CPI, Vijay Dardha Chairman Lokmat, Kani Mozhi MP (DMK), Tiruchi Siva MP, DMK, Supriya Sule, MP (NCP), Dr Sonal Mansingh, MP, Dinesh Trivedi Ex Minister, Bhartruhari Mantab MP (BJP), Javed Ali, MP RS (SP), Kunwar Danish Ali MP (BSP), Ritesh Pandey MP (BSP), BPS Reddy MP (TRS), Jayant Chaudhary MP (RLD), Elamaram Kareem MP (CPIM), Dr Prashanta Nanda MP (BJD), Sanjay Singh MP (AAP), Suresh Reddy MP (TRS), Sanjay Khan Actor, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal Ex CM Punjab.
Dr Abdullah couldn’t be contacted for comments.
