Baisakhi celebrated with joy, happiness in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 14: The festival of Baisakhi was celebrated with religious fervour by the Sikh community in the Kashmir valley on Friday. A large number of Sikh including women and children thronged Gurudwara Chati Patshi in Rainawari Srinagar to pay obeisance on the occasion. Special prayers were held for peace and prosperity of the country in general and Jammu and Kashmir in particular. Sikhs held prayers, kirtan and organised langars at major gurdwaras across Kashmir. Reports said that the Gurudwaras were abuzz with the sikh devotees paying obeisance on the occasion of Baisakhi festival at Baramulla, Tral Pulwama and other parts of Kashmir valley. Baisakhi also known as Vaisakhi, the occasion also commemorates the formation of the Khalsa Panth of warriors under Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. Expressing joy and happiness over the festival of Baisakhi the All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has expressed hope that the festival of Baisakhi would be a harbinger of peace and prosperity in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
