Jammu, May 30: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha recently inaugurated several significant infrastructure projects in Baramulla. The projects included the dedication of seven Custom Hiring Centres and nine Poly Green Houses to benefit farmers and Self-Help Groups in the district. The Lt Governor also laid the foundation stones for various other projects. During the event, Lt Governor Sinha expressed his belief that these projects have the potential to bring about transformation not only in Baramulla but also in the entire Jammu Kashmir region. He highlighted the importance of connectivity, emphasizing the strengthening of the Narbal-Tangmarg road. Furthermore, the Lt Governor congratulated the people, public representatives, Deputy Commissioner, and the entire district administration for the ‘Excellence in Public Service Administration’ award received by Baramulla in the Aspirational District category from Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Acknowledging the district’s remarkable progress in recent years, Lt Governor Sinha paid homage to Maqbool Sherwani, a significant figure from Baramulla, and praised the youth for their contributions in various sectors, considering them the custodians of the region’s future. Highlighting the government’s vision and reforms, the Lt Governor emphasized their initiatives in health, education, infrastructure, connectivity, and empowering women and youth. He stressed the importance of balanced development, benefiting all sections of society and linking backward areas to the mainstream. Regarding agriculture, Lt Governor Sinha emphasized the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP), which offers an opportunity to empower three-fourths of the population in J&K UT. He called for increased efforts in the Kisan Sampark Abhiyan to benefit more farmers and ensure sustained growth and development. Lt Governor Sinha urged the people to isolate elements that disrupt peace, while also acknowledging India’s leadership in the digital revolution and its potential to become the world’s third-largest economy. He emphasized aiming higher and creating an environment for excellence, where J&K can collectively contribute to building a global superpower. The event saw the active participation of various stakeholders, including Safina Baig, DDC Chairperson Baramulla, who highlighted developmental issues and sought the Lt Governor’s intervention. Sh Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, shared his views on the impact of the Holistic Agriculture Development Program on farmers’ lives in J&K UT. The projects inaugurated by the Lt Governor included water supply schemes and the establishment of a 6.3 MVA, 33/11 KV Receiving Station. Additionally, the foundation stones were laid for the construction of a hostel block and classroom block for Government Degree College Uri, an entry gate near Amargrah Bypass, and the District Library Baramulla. In a compassionate gesture, the Lt Governor distributed wheelchairs, tricycles, and medical aids to the beneficiaries present at the occasion. The event was attended by Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, senior officials from the Civil Administration and Police, PRI members, farmers, and a large number of people. |
