BJP leader takes tourist family hostage | FIR lodged, accused arrested | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 30: A tourist family was allegedly taken hostage by a BJP leader, Mohammad Sadiq Khan in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The victim family while talking to Early Times said, “We were on our way to Jammu from Pahalgam but unfortunately our vehicle hit another vehicle. It was a minor mishap. We stopped our vehicle and asked the other vehicle occupants if they were okay. Suddenly a man got down and started hitting us. And blows were exchanged.” They said, “The man forcibly sat in our vehicle and told us to move. We thought he would take us to the police station. However, he took us to his private property and snatched the keys of our vehicle.” “We told him that we have to go to Jammu but he forcibly made us stay in a hotel and didn’t allow us to proceed. In the morning we lodged a FIR in the police station,” they added. They said, “Local Kashmiri people who were with us tried to persuade that man but he refused to relent.” Official sources said that the BJP leader has been arrested and tourists were asked to proceed towards their destination. |
