Early Times Report POONCH, May 30: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary, inaugurated a new canteen called "Didi Ki Rasoi" in the premises of the Deputy Commissioner Office Poonch. The eatery, run by members of Women Self-Help Groups, aims to serve a variety of affordable, home-cooked meals to office staff, visitors, and the general public. The inauguration ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik, Chief Planning Officer Poonch, Maqsood Ahmed, Manager Social Dev and Infrastructure under DAY-NULM, Ishtiaq Ahmed, along with government officials and members of the self-help groups. The canteen is a unique initiative aimed at providing employment opportunities to women belonging to self-help groups in the region. It not only serves as a source of income for these women but also empowers them by offering a platform to showcase their culinary skills. During the inauguration, the Deputy Commissioner lauded the initiative and emphasized the significance of empowering women in the region. He expressed his appreciation to Project Officer Jaffar Abass Bhatt for his dedicated efforts and encouraged the local community to support the project by visiting and patronizing the canteen. Jaffar Abass Batt, Project Officer of District Urban Development Agency Poonch, highlighted that this is the first "Didi Ki Rasoi Canteen" launched under the DAY-NULM by the Koser Self-Help Group in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that the primary aim of the canteen is to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities to the women associated with the self-help groups. The Project Officer expressed his gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner for his support and expressed confidence that the canteen would serve as a successful venture, providing a stable source of income for the women in the self-help groups while offering delicious meals to the visitors. |
