DM, SSP advocate for strong action against drug trafficking, cultivation | | | Early Times Report DODA, May 30: District Magistrate Doda, Vishesh Mahajan, and SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom emphasized the need for a final attack on drug trafficking, Cannabis, and Poppy cultivation to eradicate the drug menace in the district. During the 11th district level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) Committee meeting, directions were given to various administrative and law enforcement officials to intensify their efforts in combating the drug problem. The DM urged the health and education departments to provide regular updates on the number of students checked, counseled, and referred to rehabilitation centers in subsequent NCORD meetings. Additionally, sub-divisional and tehsil-level authorities were instructed to gather information on individuals involved in Poppy and Cannabis cultivation, including revenue records, in order to take strict legal action against them. The meeting also discussed the establishment of a Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation center in the old hospital building in Bhaderwah. The results of drug testing kits distributed in vulnerable areas were also reviewed. The SSP informed the attendees that several FIRs have been registered against drug peddlers and Poppy plant cultivators, with ongoing surveillance on others involved in drug trafficking. He assured the meeting that strict action would be taken against individuals engaged in drug-related activities. The meeting was attended by various officials, including ADC Doda, ADC Bhaderwah, ASP Bhaderwah, SDM Thathri, SDM Gandoh, SDM Assar, SE PWD, ACD Doda, ACP Doda, CAO, DMO Doda, DFO Bhaderwah, and other concerned officers and officials. |
