Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, May 30: In continuation with the Azadi ka Amrut Kaal initiative during India's G20 presidency, the NSS Units, NCORD, and NCC 2J&K Girls and 2 J&K Boys Battalions of GDC Udhampur, in collaboration with the Aayush Department Udhampur, organized a two-day Yog Shivir. The focus of the Yog Shivir was on drug de-addiction through the practice of yoga, with the theme "Yog se Nasha Mukti Ki Ore." The event took place at Govt. Degree College Udhampur under the patronship of Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta, the college principal. The Yog Shivir commenced each day with Pranayam, followed by various Yogasanas and kriyas aimed at detoxifying and destressing the body and mind. The inaugural session was welcomed by Capt. Shivani Sharma, the NCC ANO. Dr. Pankaj Sharma, the coordinator of NCORD, spoke about the role of yoga in curbing drug menace and oriented the students about the beneficial Yogasanas and kriyas for building immunity. Dr. Rippy Bawa, the NSS PO of the college, highlighted the growing cases of narcotics and substance abuse, emphasizing how yoga can provide a permanent solution. The participants took a pledge to say "No to Drugs and Yes to Life." On the second day, Dr. Rippy Bawa delivered the welcome address, extending a warm welcome to the team of doctors from the Ayush Department, faculty members of the college, NSS volunteers, and NCC SD and SW cadets. Dr. Sunil demonstrated various Yog Kriyas, explaining their respective benefits, which were then practiced by the audience. About 80 students actively participated in the event. Dr. Shameem from the Ayush Department delivered an informative lecture on drug de-addiction. Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta, the college principal, stressed the importance of yoga in the lives of the youth, particularly in combating drug abuse, and commended the NSS POs and NCC ANO for organizing such a valuable event. Dr. Ajay Sharma, the NSS PO, expressed gratitude and emphasized the significance of yoga in controlling our minds and thoughts to stay away from the menace of drugs. He thanked everyone for contributing to the success of the event. The program concluded with the rendition of the national anthem, "Rashtriya Gan." |
