Early Times Report AKHNOOR, May 30: The Department of Youth Services and Sports Zone-Akhnoor conducted Inter-Panchayat Zonal Level sports competitions in Kabaddi and Volleyball as part of their Anti-Drug Drive Programme. The event took place at Government HS Devipur and witnessed active participation from boys in the age group of 19 to 35. Bhushan Bral, the invited Chief Guest and DDC Bhalwal Brahmana, emphasized the importance of sports in keeping the youth away from addictive substances. He urged everyone to actively contribute to building a drug-free society. Ashok Kumar, I/C ZPEO Akhnoor, raised awareness among the participants about the harmful effects of drugs and encouraged them to spread the message in their communities. The event was also attended by Som Nath, I/C Headmaster GHS Devipur, Ganesh Dass, Sarpanch of Devipur, and Chamal Lal Khajuria, former Sarpanch of Devipur. Som Nath appreciated the efforts of the Youth Services and Sports Department for organizing sports events that provide young people with a platform to showcase their talent while promoting a noble cause. A pledge against drug use was taken by all staff and participants. Around 100 players from different Panchayats in Zone Akhnoor participated in the Kabaddi discipline, with Panchayat Gandharwan emerging as the winner in the final match. |
