Early Times Report JAMMU, June 6: GGM Science College Jammu, in collaboration with the Art of Living Foundation, organized the Har Ghar Dhyan workshop under the patronage of Principal Prof. Rajesh Kumar Gupta. The workshop was supervised by Dr. Deepali Mahajan, Program Officer of NSS unit II, and Dr. Shakha Sharma, Convenor of the Psychological Cell. The Art of Living Foundation is a volunteer-based humanitarian and educational NGO with centers in 180 countries, founded by Gurudev Shri Shri Ravi Shankar in 1981. As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, the Ministry of Culture has partnered with the Art of Living to raise awareness about mental health and empower people with the practice of meditation for better well-being. The project, launched on 26th October 2022 at the Art of Living headquarters in Bangalore, has conducted over 10,000 meditation sessions across the country to date. This scheme promotes youth empowerment and better health through the Jan-Bhagidari model, aiming to create a resilient future for the nation. The workshop featured resource persons Ajay Kapoor, State Coordinator of Art of Living Bureau of Communications and Projects for J&K UT, and Akshita Sharma, a trainer with the Art of Living. Akshita Sharma, a computer science engineer and MBA in Operations and Marketing, provided insights on stress elimination, self-development, and the benefits of meditation. The session began with a welcome address by Dr. Deepali Mahajan, the meditation ambassador of the college. Akshita Sharma beautifully explained how adopting meditation, pranayama, and stress-relieving techniques can enhance immunity, relieve stress and anxiety, improve mental focus, and increase overall well-being. Participants were actively engaged in a short meditation session, leaving them feeling relaxed and positive. Dr. Anil Kumar Verma, Vice Principal, appreciated the efforts of the workshop. Dr. Vandana Khajuria, Dr. Poonam Kamotra, and Prof. Ajay Gupta presented planters to the Art of Living Team. Prof. Jyotdeep, Prof. Asha Sharmhal, Prof. Samita, and Prof. Preeti attended the workshop.
