Martyr Chaggar’s mother without old age pension for 7 months | ‘After his killing no one came forward to help us, we are facing starvation’ | | Early Times Report
Mansa (Udhampur), June 6: Mother of a martyr Chaggar, who was killed in a grenade attack at Slathia Chowk in Udhampur last year, on Tuesday said that she hasn’t received her pension for the last 7 months. Talking to a news channel, she said, “The old age pension of Rs 1000/ was stopped nearly 7 months before. I had to take Rs 500/ as a loan to pay the person to get my documents re-verified but till date my pension hasn’t been released.” Chaggar was a lone bread earner of the family and on the fateful day when he was killed he had taken his 2-year child to a doctor. “He had asked his wife to stand under a tree on the other side of the road under a tree as it was too hot. By the time he crossed the road to get sugarcane juice for his child and wife, terrorists lobbed a grenade and he was killed on the spot,” recalled Chaggar’s mother. She said that after Chaggar’s killing the government provided Rs 2 lakh compensation to his wife. “After his death Me and my deaf and dumb son have been left without a bread earner. Till Chaggar was alive we were able to manage two square meals in a day but after his death we have been struggling to survive,” she added. Chaggar’s mother urged the administration to release her pension and “do something to help her family.” “After my son’s killing no one has come forward to help us. Neither the politicians, nor the officials,” she added. |
