GDC Udhampur celebrates World Environment Day | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, June 6: The NSS Unit of GDC Udhampur, in collaboration with AKAM Cell, celebrated World Environment Day 2023 with a poster-making campaign and a plantation drive. Led by Principal Prof (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, the event aimed to raise awareness about environmental concerns, focusing on the theme 'Solutions to Plastic Pollution' and the principles of unity and love for nature. About 80 NSS volunteers actively participated in the activities. During the program, volunteers created and displayed beautiful posters on the college campus, highlighting the importance of environmental preservation. The Principal and NSS staff also initiated a plantation drive to contribute to a greener environment. In his address, the Principal emphasized the urgency of resolving environmental degradation and encouraged students to adopt sustainable living practices, including waste reduction and the use of recycled products. Dr. Rippy Bawa, NSS Programme Officer, highlighted the threats posed by plastic pollution and the need for awareness. Dr. Ajay Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, discussed the importance of sustainable ecosystems and urged action on climate change. The event concluded with NSS volunteers embracing trees and pledging to protect them. The Principal commended the NSS Unit for their enthusiastic participation, and the programme officers expressed gratitude to the senior faculty members for their support. |
