PHE daily wagers sit-in about to complete 1-year, no demand met; authorities unmoved | ‘Will stage protests across UT on June 22, black day’ | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 14: PHE daily wagers have been sitting on a dharna for nearly one year here to get their genuine demands redressed but till date nothing has been done. The daily wagers while talking to reporters said, “We have been sitting on dharna for the past 356 days. We will complete one year on June 22, 2023.” They said during the past one year they have held many meetings with the government but no breakthrough has been achieved till date. “Our lives have been made miserable. The government has to decide whether to keep us or say goodbye to us,” they added. The daily wagers said that their number exceeds more than 60,000 and whenever the elections are held they would “teach politicians, who misled them, a lesson.” They said that on June 22, their sit-in will complete one year and they are planning to stage massive protests across J&K on that day. “Despite our demands being genuine the government is not paying any attention towards us. Besides staging demonstrations we will also observe black day on that day. Politicians, who had promised us that they would stand with us have disappeared but should remember that when elections are held they will have to come back to us to seek votes,” they added. The daily wagers said that one of their associates has been admitted in the hospital as his kidneys have stopped working. “It’s unfortunate that even his pending wages haven’t been released,” they added. |
