Early Times Report JAMMU, June 14: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of JKNC, strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its self-centered and opportunistic approach towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir. In a statement, Gupta highlighted that the BJP has shown no concern for the aspirations and well-being of the people, despite claiming development in the region. Gupta expressed grave concern over the lack of basic amenities, such as civic facilities and infrastructure, prevailing in the Jammu region. He emphasized that issues like inadequate drinking water supply have reached a critical level, leading to public demonstrations, particularly by women and children. Protests demanding basic amenities have been witnessed across various areas, including Lakhanpur, Rajouri, Poonch, and parts of the capital Smart City. The senior NC leader criticized the government's lack of planning, highlighting the incomplete water supply schemes and insufficient funds for the region, especially in the kandi belt of Jammu, Samba, and Kathua. He also raised concerns about the poor condition of the power distribution system, leading to regular disruptions in power supply. The health sector in rural areas was described as suffering from acute shortages of doctors, leaving people dependent on paramedics. Furthermore, Gupta addressed the deplorable road conditions in the Jammu region, which have resulted in frequent accidents and loss of lives, particularly on the Jammu to Sunderbani and Kalakote roads. The road conditions in Chenab valley were also highlighted as being in poor shape and accident-prone areas. Lastly, the recent earthquake in the Pir Panjal Range and Chenab valley caused significant damage and loss for the people. Gupta urged the government to provide adequate compensation to the affected individuals. |
