Poonch campus inspires artistic expression to promote Menstrual Health, Hygiene awareness | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Sept 4: In a commendable effort to raise awareness about menstrual health and hygiene, the Poonch Campus of the University of Jammu organized a captivating painting event titled “Colors of Awareness: Menstrual Health and Hygiene Matters” within the premises of the Girls Hostel at Poonch Campus. This innovative event aimed to blend the power of art with education, effectively engaging participants in a creative expression of their support for menstrual health and hygiene awareness. Director of Poonch Campus, Prof Rakesh Vaid, conveyed his congratulations to the residents of both the Girls and Boys Hostels for their initiative in organizing this event. He highlighted the significance of this painting event, stating that it provided a platform for both artists and the community to celebrate the importance of menstrual health and hygiene, foster open discussions, and challenge the stigma associated with menstruation. The Director also extended his appreciation to Dr. Rubia Bukhari, Warden of the Hostels, for her efforts in organizing such a meaningful program. Participants from both hostels showcased their artistic talents by creating unique artworks that encapsulated the essence of menstrual health and hygiene awareness. Through their creations, they aimed to break down societal taboos and initiate vital conversations on this crucial topic. Dr. Rubia Bukhari, Campus Officer and Warden, expressed her delight at the event, emphasizing that art possesses the unique ability to transcend barriers and convey messages that words alone cannot. She stated, “We believe that by incorporating artistry into the mission of promoting menstrual health and hygiene awareness, we can make a lasting impact.” Dr. Bukhari further elaborated that the painting event served as a unifying platform for students and artists, all sharing a common goal - to destigmatize menstruation and advocate for well-informed menstrual health choices. The boarders who participated in the poster-making event on menstrual health and hygiene were Shivali Sonia, Proctor of Girls Hostel, Ajay Sadotra, Proctor of Boys Hostel, Nitish Singh Pangotra, Chail Singh, Jyoti Sharma, Simran Shan, Kajal Bhandari, Shakshi Devi, Bindiya Verma, and Shaista Shabir. Their collective efforts in blending art and awareness are sure to leave a lasting impact on their community and beyond. |
