Pro-Pak slogans haunt Akbar Lone during heated-debate on Art 370 in Apex Court
9/4/2023 11:15:53 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 4: Although with the “help” of some BJP leaders the sitting Lok Sabha member of the National Conference Mohammad Akbar Lone was “protected” in the year 2018 after shouting pro-Pakistan slogans, his anti-national act diverted ongoing debate on Article 370 in the Supreme Court.
On the 15th-day hearing session on Monday, the Supreme Court asked Mohammad Akbar Lone, the lead petitioner in the Article 370 case, to file an affidavit affirming that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and that he owed allegiance to the Constitution of India.
The National Conference leader has been given time until Tuesday, September 5.
The SC remark came after the central government demanded that National Conference MP Mohammad Akbar Lone file an affidavit stating that he “owes allegiance to the Constitution of India” and that he “opposes and objects to terrorism by Pakistan”.
A Kashmiri Pandits’ organization named “Roots in Kashmir” submitted before the Constitution Bench that Lone had raised slogans supporting Pakistan in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
Mohammad Akbar Lone had shouted Pakistan Zindabad slogans on the floor of the Legislative Assembly of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir on February 10, 2018, to counter BJP members who were shouting anti-Pakistan slogans after the Sujawan terror attack.
Akbar Lone, a former Speaker reached up to the podium of the Speaker and chanted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ to counter the BJP’s slogans of ‘Pakistan Murdabad’ and ‘Pakistan Hai Hai’.
Interestingly, a day after the whole episode, many BJP leaders “protected” Akbar Lone and avoided raking up the issue.
Instead of taking action against Lone, BJP leaders had protected Lone when the then legislator R S Pathania had moved a resolution against him on the floor of the House. Pathania had lodged a written complaint against Lone but he was protected.
Credible sources said that the then BJP ministers had lashed out at MLAs who had vociferously demanded action against Lone. BJP MLAs had demanded the registration of an FIR against Lone for his irresponsible and unconstitutional remarks.
Credible sources said that Mohammad Akbar Lone had some secrets of senior BJP ministers and these leaders feared that Lone would expose them in and outside the Assembly so they protected Lone at that time.
