BJP devises strategy to take benefit of NC, Cong fight in Kargil Council polls | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 4: Taking advantage of infighting among constituents of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) in the mountainous Kargil region, the BJP has pressed all its resources into service to improve its rally in the forthcoming elections for the Ladakh Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil. The national general secretary of BJP, who is also incharge of J&K and Ladakh affairs of the party reached Kargil on Sunday to devise a strategy to take benefit of infighting among INDIA constituents, especially the National Conference, which is heading the Council, and the Congress. Highly placed sources said that the BJP has decided to utilize all its resources to mark its presence in the LAHDC Kargil elections where the party has fielded 18 candidates and supporting “Independents” on the remaining eight seats. In the last LAHDC Kargil elections held in 2018, the National Conference won 10 seats followed by eight seats by Congress. PDP had won two seats and BJP one while there were five Independents. According to a notification issued by the Election Department of Ladakh, the election to 26 seats of the 30-member Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, is scheduled for September 10 and the counting of votes will take place four days later. As reported earlier, the National Conference and Congress-two main constituents of the INDIA in India are fighting against each other in the LAHDC Kargil elections. The National Conference and Congress have fielded their candidates against each other which is a clear indication of the disintegration of I.N.D.I.A in Ladakh. To ensure the smooth going of INDIA in Kargil, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which won two seats in the 2018 elections, did not field any candidates. |
