Jammu, Jan 24: Although BJP has already conducted external and internal surveys to finalize candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, the party will form panels of three candidates for each Parliamentary segment. Highly placed sources said that during the first State Election Committee meeting held on Tuesday, it was decided to constitute panels for each Lok Sabha segment in the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Sources said that the panel would be constituted for the Parliamentary seats which BJP has won in two successive Lok Sabha elections in 2014 and 2019. In the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections BJP won three Parliamentary seats namely Jammu-Poonch, Udhampur-Doda, and Ladakh. Except for Ladakh where the party fielded a young leader Jamyang Tsering Namgyal in place of a veteran politician Thupstan Chewang, the BJP had repeated its candidates on Jammu-Poonch and Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seats. All three candidates of the BJP further consolidated their positions in 2019 as compared to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Sources said that the final decisio Final decision of the candidates will be taken by the Parliamentary Board. BJP has been conducting the surveys now the process has been intensified. Surveyors have full knowledge of the ticket aspirants in all the assembly constituencies of Jammu province. of the candidates will be taken by the Parliamentary Board of the party but as a custom of the party local unit has to submit a panel of three candidates for each Lok Sabha constituency. As reported earlier, during the last six months, BJP has been conducting the surveys for the maiden assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir but now the process has been intensified due to the coming Lok Sabha elections. Not only former ministers and ex-legislators are tense even young leaders who are aspiring to get mandates in the assembly elections are also worried due to this survey bombshell. Reports said that the party would be decided on ticket allocations on survey-based reports has caused unrest among many leaders whose performance is not good on the ground. Reports said that the central leadership of the BJP has hired private agencies to conduct assembly constituency-based surveys. Interestingly those involved in conducting surveys have done excellent homework because they have full knowledge of the ticket aspiratants in all the assembly constituencies of Jammu province. |
