Prof Kiran Bakshi, Principal of College while welcoming O P Sharma IFS, Director Ecology, Environment & Remote sensing for 432nd Tree Talk highlighted age old reverence for plants & animals with focus on sacred tree planting around temples, Gurdwaras, churches & mosques to mark ongoing tree planting during monsoon season. While applauding role of student community in nature conservation, she appealed students to popularise use of herbal cosmetics, shampoos, health tonics, herbal teas and medicinal sherbats. OP Sharma, Director Ecology Environment & Remote sensing shared his vision on forest biodiversity and need for theme based tree planting to establish Chywanprash vatikas, Cosmetic herbal corners, Medicinal Tree groves, Edible Tree garden, Threatened Plant conservatory, Wild food Parks, Forest food tourist corners and Shivalik Biodiversity Belts. |
