Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 11: As the protests in Kashmir are fizzling out and people have started giving up, now separatists are trying to use women to hit the streets.
"During the past few days women have been hitting the streets and staging demonstrations. Separatists are using women as shields and are trying to provoke the security force personnel to act," said a source.
He said, "This is a new ploy. In the initial days of Kashmir unrest the henchmen of separatists used minors as shields in the processions as they knew it very well that if the minors sustain injuries it would trigger hue and cry across Kashmir."
The source claimed, "Women activists within the separatist ranks have been assigned the job to keep the pot boiling and not let the protests fizzle out. Police have started keeping a vigil over the activities of the women activists in separatist ranks and women police force has been put on alert as the Police don't want to take any chance."
Sources revealed that over ground workers of militants have started building pressure over the people especially in the rural areas to continue with the protests. "Srinagar city has remained calm and the scale of protests and clashes have been low. Srinagar not erupting has foiled the plans of separatists to prolong the ongoing agitation. Security Forces are exercising restraint despite grave provocation from the stone-pelters and anti-national elements. The exercise restrained by the Security Force personnel has led to no fresh killings taking place," the source added.
He said, "Srinagar city remaining calm and no fresh killings taking place has become a cause of concern for the people who are spearheading the present unrest. They are searching for dead bodies to keep the pot boiling. Situation is showing the signs of improvement much to the displeasure of the separatists."
Sources revealed that during the past few days Police have arrested many stone-pelters and the henchmen of separatists who were busy orchestrating the protests. "This time around the separatists and their handlers had not chosen the volatile areas for the protests. Demonstrations erupted in such areas which used to remain calm," they added.
" It took lot of effort to break the vicious cycle of protests and identify the perpetrators as this time around the people behind these protests had changed their strategy. Now they (separatists) are devising a new strategy by pushing women out on streets. Police are analyzing their moves and are trying to see what best can be done," the source added.
He said, "Coming Friday will be crucial if the day passes off peacefully there is every possibility about protests fizzling out in coming days."
