Police stopped Kargil bound passengers near Zojila for five hours in chilling minus temperature 11/19/2016 10:43:14 PM Sajjad Hussain Early Times Report Kargil, Nov 19: Hundreds of Kargil bound passengers were stopped in midnight by police posted at Sonamarg police station. The passengers were traveling from Srinagar to Kargil including women, children, students and old ages. When the passengers asked reason to allow to move towards Kargil or allow to meet the SHO in person. Police denied either move or meet with the SHO. Passengers told media that the SHO had switched off his mobile and was sleeping in his room inside the police station. A Passenger Mohammad Jeffer said when they asked the reason they were told there is an order from DC to not to allow any vehicle towards Kargil while hundreds of vehicles passed through Sonamarg from Kargil to Srinagar. He said, "When we asked to show written order they threatened us to book in the lockup". "we reached here at 11:30 pm and now its 3 am we are still here , Look we are shivering in this midnight -19 temperature. We are compelled to travel night because of stone pelting on the way" The passengers have also spoken to the ADC but he said "The SHO's phone is switched off and I don't know the reason why you people have been stopped". The passengers were also saying that the local leaders remains irrelevant in this moment every time whenever we face the same problem in Sonamarg and the leaders remains helpless while police always humiliate us here . The passengers demanded to local leaders of Kargil to take serious note the continues humiliation in Sonamarg every year . It's pertinent to mention here that the same trend begins every year in Sonamarg with Kargil bound passengers and lack of cooperation and cold response from the state government side always create chaos among the people.
