RAJOURI, Nov 19: Apparently angry with the people who opposed premature transfer of a popular Gram Sevak from Suderbani here, a BJP lawmaker has threatened a whistle-blower and some journalists of 'dire consequences.'
The threat call came in full public gaze in Dak bungalow Sundarbani on Friday when some respectable people from the area and former Sarpanchs were holding a meeting there.
Witnesses said as the meeting was going on, the MLA stormed the room and asked an ex-Sarpanch Teerath Ram to get up. Ram, the whistle-blower, had some days back told Early Times that people of Sunderbani have resented the premature transfer of popular Gram Sevak Happy Raina and want the "illegal orders be revoked."
"How dare you reveal this all to Early Times? Remember one thing-in the coming days I am going to take out your intestines and those of the media persons who pamper you to talk to them. Go and try to file a complaint against me. No one will dare to take cognizance," Ram quoted the MLA as telling him.
"I am a poor man. What will happen to my family if I am killed? Please help me out," Ram flanked by other villagers told Early Times, as tears rolled down his eyes.
Asked why he doesn't file a complaint with police, the ex-Sarpanch responded: "The police station Sunderbani already works at the behest of the MLA. The police station which files fake FIR to please this MLA will never help me."
In a passionate appeal to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, Ram he apprehends threat to his life.
"If anything happens to me or my family, he (BJP MLA) will be solely responsible," the former Sarpanch said. He said that in his entire life he had never witnesses such 'Gunda Raaj.' He said he would knock the doors of the Prime Minister's office.
Despite repeated attempts the MLA could not be contacted for comments.
