11/20/2016 10:44:17 PM
Early Times Report

Doda Nov 20: Land measuring 20 lakh kanals is still under illegal occupation of people in whole state according to the state government data and in past they were not provided Roshni Scheme benefit due to many reasons and former government at that time allegedly favoured only the land mafia , big encroachers , influential people and kith and kin . Omar led government in the past also said that the government is contemplating to amend the Roshni Act to extend its applicability across the State for one year more but failed to do so . It is the need of the hour that fresh applications under Roshni Scheme should be invited through amendment in scheme . Hundreds of families have state land in their possession for the last several decades but revenue officials and some higher officials are still mentally harassing and threatening them with out any reason, alleged Sheikh Mohd Shafi of Bhaderwah . There is a need to reconcile the interest of State and occupants who were not vested ownership right of land under the law as yet, he added . The increase in the time limit for filling of applications and depositing of fee with certain conditions would be beneficial for all stakeholders. Revenue Department should come up with revised rules to address the grievances of all the stakeholders under the law, said Thakur Yudvir Singh another resident of Bhaderwah . Many non political organizations of Doda also alleged that many senior officers in the past had blatantly misused the provisions of Roshni Scheme in whole Doda district especially in Bhaderwah to confer undue benefits upon non-deserving people for pecuniary benefits and now it is the duty of the state government to administer justice to left out and deserving occupants of state land who are in possession of state land from two decades.
