Early Times Report

Srinagar, Nov 22: The contingent paid workers in Education Department working on monthly salary of Rs 50 and Rs 100 accused the authorities of violating High Court directions to pay them at par with the daily rated workers of other departments.
They said that the people sitting at the helm of affairs have been terming dictates to them other than mitigating their problems which they claimed has ruined their social life and miserably affected the future of their children.
They claimed that they have never hesitated to perform their duties even in extremely tough times but the problems they have been facing over the years are yet to be addressed.
"One cannot believe that we are working on Rs 50 and Rs 100 monthly salaries, we have rendered our prime age in serving the department but government has never bothered to resolve our issues," said Nazir Ahmad Rather a contingent paid employee told 'Early Times'.
He said that the government has been terming dictates to them from time to time but they have never argued or hesitated to perform their duties. "If we are asked to perform night duties we do, if asked to clean school premises we , if as ked to prepare meals we feel proud but why the government has been shying away to address our problems over the years," he added. He said that the employees have been demanding monthly salary at par with daily wagers that even the High Court the highest judiciary of the state endorse and impressed upon the government to meet this genuine demand of ours "but I think they even don't care for court directions and do whatever they deem fit"
He asked a question to Education Minister and government Spokesman, Nayeem Akhter as to what is their fault, why should their families suffer and why should they tantalize for their rights. "We have always respected the instructions and will continue to do so in future, if the government wants us to perform night duties we will do, but our demand to the government is to comply with the High Court directions and increase our monthly salary," said he.
